“The unmistakable profile of Sgurr Nan Gillean is a favorite of mine, and I love to explore always new ways of portraying it. I envisioned using this little Loch for foreground interest for quite some time; on this particular day the light around sunset was just perfect, creating a glorious, golden sky over the Cuillin. Thanks to my pre-visualization experience, looking at the clouds’ movement I knew that using a long exposure of just under a minute would allow me to create a composition built on triangles and diagonal lines, using the shape and motion of the clouds to create lines in the sky mimicking those of the landscape in front of me. The contrast between warm and cold colors also created implied diagonals in the picture, strengthening the composition even more and portraying Sgurr Nan Gillean in all its golden glory.” – Vieri
