“Rolling hills in Tuscany’s Val d’Orcia are a favorite subject of mine; mist adds a wonderful touch of mystery and magic to them, transfiguring the landscape and making it extremely expressive and inspiring. On a misty morning, I went to one of my favorite locations, a farmhouse set behind a series of rolling hills. When I got there, mist was completely engulfing the scene, hiding everything from view. However, being very familiar with the location, I knew where to set my camera up; the conditions looked right to me, and I knew that the mist would lift with the first sunlight. When it did, revealing the farmhouse bathed in the beautiful, fog-scattered light of sunrise, it did so very shortly – leaving me just about enough time to create my image before the mist completely dissolved, taking the magic away with it.” – Vieri
