“The secluded Playa de Gueirua, on the Asturias coast, with her sail-shaped sea stacks looking like they are about to take off to the ocean, is a favorite of mine. I have been photographing this beautiful and challenging scene for years, and this familiarity allows me to know where to set up with each tide and weather conditions. On this particular morning, the spectacular sunrise and cloud cover moving east inspired me to use a mildly long exposure to convey a sense of movement, while retaining shape in the clouds. These impressive sea stacks really felt like they were embarking on a majestic voyage.” – Vieri
