MIGHTY ELEGANCE

“Skogafoss is as powerful as it is elegant. To convey both feelings, I needed to put it in contest, rather than going for the usual composition where the waterfall takes most of the scene. Being very familiar with the location, after over a dozen visits, I knew where I wanted to be for this image – in the river, to use snow-covered rock to create leading lines in my composition complementing the falling water for a strong diagonal composition. The glow of dawn behind the waterfall worked perfectly to create the mood I was after, and a few seconds of exposure were enough to smoothen the raging waters as I envisioned them.” – Vieri
